What is on these worksheets?

Each problem shows a fact family such as 6, 7 and 42. Children write 6 × 7, 7 × 6, 42 ÷ 6 and 42 ÷ 7. Other styles in the maker show a triangle with one missing number, or a house to fill in. Every sheet uses the multiplication facts children are learning, and the division facts follow from them.

A good order for the times tables

StageTablesWhy start here
12, 5 and 10Easy patterns: doubles, counting by fives, ending in zero
23 and 4Builds on doubling, and on 2 and 5 facts
36, 7 and 8Many of these facts are already known from earlier tables
49, 11 and 12Strong patterns help: digits of the 9s add to 9

Set the maker to Times tables up to 5 first, then 10, then 12. Each table also has its own page of every fact family, from the fact families by number index.

Tips for using the worksheets

  • Say the family out loud as you write it: “six times seven is forty-two, forty-two divided by six is seven”.
  • Mix in the Write the four facts style once children can complete the families quickly.
  • Check with the answer key, then ask the child which fact they found easiest and which was hardest.
  • Pair the sheets with fact family triangles cut out as flash cards.
